Every Dream Deserves a Chance to Grow

Margaret dreams of becoming a doctor so she can help other children. Stephen loves playing football with his friends and hopes to become a footballer, while Dorcas dreams of a future in medicine. Their dreams are different, but each depends on having the opportunity to stay in school, learn, and develop their potential.

This Giving Season, a scholarship can help students like Margaret, Stephen, and Dorcas continue their education and move closer to the futures they imagine.

Margaret, Grade 5: A Heart for Helping Others

At 10 years old, Margaret loves Christian Religious Education (CRE) because it teaches her about kindness and making good choices. At Thika Primary School for the Blind, she enjoys learning, playing hide-and-seek with her friends and imagining the person she hopes to become. During the holidays, she enjoys visiting her grandparents, where they cook together and spend time playing games as a family.

Margaret is the eldest of six children. Her widowed mother struggles to provide for the household and meet the cost of school fees for all her children. Margaret once missed an entire term because the fees could not be raised, and she sometimes comes to school without essential personal items.

Still, she holds firmly to her dream of becoming a doctor so she can help other children. A scholarship can help Margaret remain in school, continue her education, and take meaningful steps towards the compassionate future she dreams of.

Stephen, Grade 4: A Dream Beyond the Football Field

Stephen is a Grade 4 student who enjoys Kiswahili and expresses himself fluently in the language. When classes end, he looks forward to playing football with his friends. He may not have a favorite team, but he already dreams of becoming a footballer one day.

Stephen’s education has not always been certain. Financial difficulties once kept him out of school for an entire year, separating him from his lessons, friends and the game he loves. His grandfather, who is his sole guardian, relies on casual work to provide for their basic needs and pay Stephen’s school fees.

Despite the challenges he has faced, 12-year-old Stephen remains optimistic about learning and hopeful about his future. A scholarship can help Stephen stay in school, continue learning and keep his dream within reach.

Dorcas, Grade 7: A Passion for Science and Sports

Sixteen-year-old Dorcas is a Grade 7 student with a passion for science. She enjoys discovering how things work and performs well in the subject. For Dorcas, science is more than a favorite class. It is helping her imagine the future as a doctor.

Outside the classroom, Dorcas comes alive on the goalball court. She enjoys the excitement of the game and the opportunity to play alongside her teammates. Her enthusiasm earned her a place on the Kenyan team, representing her country at this year’s East Africa Primary School Games in Tanzania.

Despite the financial pressure facing her family, Dorcas remains focused on her education and the future she hopes to build. Her love of science continues to inspire her dream of becoming a doctor.

A scholarship can help Dorcas remain in school, continue developing her academic and sporting talents, and move closer to the future she imagines.

Give Every Dream a Chance

For students like Margaret, Stephen and Dorcas, staying in school means having the opportunity to keep learning, develop their potential and pursue the futures they dream about.

The full cost of providing one student with a year of scholarship support is $480, but you don’t have to give the full amount to make a difference. Whether you give $10, $50, $100 or $480, every contribution helps students stay in school, focus on their education and continue pursuing their dreams.

A scholarship provides stability and gives a student the opportunity to continue learning, develop their potential and imagine a future beyond the circumstances they face today.

Give today and help Margaret, Stephen and Dorcas have a chance to pursue their dreams.
